Innovation, Promotion and Commercialization Centre was established around the year 2009 to facilitate FRI’s new mission of empowering innovation and commercialization in line with the Government’s aspirations as outlined in the Government-Funded Research and Development (R&D) Intellectual Property (IP) Commercialization Policy (2009). During the early days, the main focus of InProKom was to develop SOP for the registration of intellectual property and carry out the promotion of R&D outputs. Starting from the year 2017, the groundwork for the commercialization process was initiated with the establishment of SOPs, preparation of an agreement template and proposal to amend the FRI trust fund to receive funds from commercialization activities. The human resources in InProKom only comprise of three officers, one librarian and four supporting staff.
