Greetings
Welcome and thank you for visiting Fisheries Research Institute’s Official Website.
The Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) upholds a major responsibility to develop and manage the country’s fisheries sector through research and development. This is to ensure that fishery resources can contribute to a high protein supply for the people and be enjoyed by all levels of society, in addition to generating the national economy. In order to achieve this goal, FRI needs to have the best knowledge, expertise and facilities in line with current technological developments.
The competence, value, creativity of FRI research officers will always be improved through research collaboration with universities, research institutions and organizations both at home and abroad. Cooperation with the private sector and target groups that are the main clients of FRI will also be intensified to ensure that research results can be evaluated and provide benefits to the concerned group.
Along with the rapid development of the fishery’s industry, FRI researchers will be exposed to new technology and skills through courses, workshops and seminars locally and abroad. Focus will continue to be given on the main areas, namely aquaculture, capture fisheries, pollution impact assessment, fish health, marine parks, inland fisheries, socioeconomics
and conservation of endangered species.
This increase in competence will allow new technologies and innovations to be explored and used by the target group. The mission and vision will be achieved with a commitment to continue to cultivate research and innovation in carrying out the tasks that have been entrusted. If this mission can be implemented well, the country’s fishing industry can be developed sustainably and able to support the country’s food supply.
In line with the excellence of the research activities carried out, FRI also aims to register 3 intellectual properties each year and commercialize at least 3 innovations within 5 years. This goal can be achieved with the commitment and dedication of all staff.
Thank you.
