Dissemination of Findings: ‘Break and Protect 2’ (BP2) Marine Leech Trap Study in Penang

14 January 2026: The results of the “Break and Protect 2” (BP2) marine leech trap study were officially presented today to participating fish farmers across four districts in Penang.
The dissemination session was led by the project leader and inventor of BP2, Dr. Kua Beng Chu. The event was also graced by the presence of IPP Senior Director, Dr. Azhar Hamzah, and a representative of YB Fahmi Zainol (Penang State Exco for Agrotechnology, Food Security, and Cooperative Development). Also in attendance were representatives from the State Fisheries Offices (PPN) of Penang, Kedah, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, and Sabah.
This event serves as the highlight of the Penang State Government’s special assistance project, utilizing BP2 innovation to support the state’s marine fish farmers.
