FRI Rantau Abang Strengthens Safety Compliance with Official DOSH Inspection
Greetings and best wishes,
RANTAU ABANG, 28 January 2026 – In an effort to empower a safe work culture and comply with the latest legislative standards, the Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) Rantau Abang took a proactive step by inviting the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH/JKKP) Terengganu for an official visit and a comprehensive safety inspection of the institute’s facilities.
The primary objective of this working visit was to ensure the institute’s full compliance with premise registration (notification of occupation of a workplace) under Section 27A of Act A1648 (Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022). This initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of IPP Rantau Abang’s management in providing a conducive and safe working environment for its workforce.
The DOSH Terengganu delegation, led by the Head of Enforcement Section, Mr. Fakrul bin Abdullah, was warmly welcomed by the Director of FRI Rantau Abang, Ts. Dr. Daud bin Awang. Also present in the delegation were Factories and Machinery Inspectors, Mr. Mohd Azan bin Muhamad and Mr. Mohd Sufian bin Yusof.
During the visit, DOSH officers toured key facilities, including the pond areas and laboratories, to examine physical safety aspects and operational procedures. This inspection not only fulfills legal requirements but also serves as an external audit to improve the institute’s existing safety systems.
Ts. Dr. Daud bin Awang described the collaboration with regulatory bodies like DOSH as critical in ensuring that research operations proceed smoothly without the risk of accidents. This aligns with the institute’s aspiration to become a center of excellence that is not only superior in marine species research but also exemplary in occupational safety governance.
